History of Monreith
Monreith was previously operated as a private hospital. In 1998-99 the facilities were
upgraded and new purpose built wing constructed by proprietor and builder Mr Nick
House and his company House Bros Pty Ltd., a building company which specialises in the construction of aged care facilities.
Bed licenses were transferred from Warwick Nursing Home owned by Monreith's co-
proprietor, Mr Chris Blundell.
Monreith was opened in March 1999 and approval was granted in 2001 to operate as
an extra service home. The aim of this new service is to provide more services and
better accommodation than was offered in standard nursing homes.
In building the new addition the aim was to create a facility which is reminiscent of a
boutique hotel with a welcoming reception and elegant sitting areas and
individualised care and pampering.
Monreith is jointly owned by Chris Blundell and Nick House.
Nick manages Monreith together with a support team jointly with another extra
service facility, Gleneagles Aged Care Facility, at the administrative office, located at
33 Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town.
The day to day management relating to resident care and staffing is the responsibility
of the Director of Nursing and the staff located at Monreith.
